Our Services
Lykos Service Team covers the whole of the Midlands, installing External Wall Insulation and exterior render solutions. The services we offer include:
External Wall Insulation (EWI)
External Wall Insulation (EWI) is applied to the exterior walls of a property in order to improve its energy efficiency. It is then covered in a series of layers of protective mesh, base-coat and top-coat render. All of the render solutions that we apply are silicone-based and are self-cleaning and not prone to cracking (unlike traditional sand/cement-based renders).
EWI is primarily targeted at properties of solid wall construction, although it can be used on almost any type of building (including those with cavity walls). It is a cost-effective solution that will dramatically improve interior comfort and reduce energy usage, but also transforms the external look of the property - increasing its value and 'kerb-appeal'.
Over 35% of the energy required to heat a property escapes through its walls. A correctly installed EWI system will reduce energy usage by approximately one-third. It can also help to prevent damp and mould from occurring on the inside a building, and can be used to remedy such situations should they already have occurred.
We are approved installers of a variety of BBA approved EWI systems, which are available in hundreds of different colours and finishes. We offer a complete service, including removal and replacement of exterior fittings such as television aerials, satellite dishes and exterior lights. We also extend and replace components such as downpipes, guttering, boiler flues and window cills when installing External Wall Insulation.
We are PAS 2035 accredited, meaning that we are able to undertake External Wall Insulation work under government-led schemes. All our EWI work is covered by a minimum 10-years guarantee.
Domestic & Commercial Rendering
In certain cases it is not essential to insulate the exterior of a property, but its owners do wish to improve the way it looks and its resilience against adverse weather conditions. We are able to apply a wide range of different types of render and usually favour silicone-based renders for their durability. However, in certain cases (e.g., for listed buildings or restoration projects) we also use a lime-based render that is more in-tune with historic building methods.
We can undertake all types of rendering contract, from small domestic jobs (e.g., a single wall of a property) through to large-scale housing and commercial regeneration projects.
Exterior Refurbishment
It's often desirable to undertake other types of exterior refurbishment work whilst EWI installation or rendering is taking place - often because scaffolding will not need to be erected again. Lykos offer an all-in-one solution that can include work such as:
- De-commissioning and removing exterior fitments and features that are no longer required
- Exterior changing of fascias, soffits, windows or doors
- Concealing exterior pipework, cables and other surface-mounted items
- Replacing or extending window cills, downpipes and rainwater systems
- Cleaning and repairing exterior feature stone and brick work, as well as lead work
- Repairing and re-finishing areas below or around a damp course
- Roof Cleaning
Cladding, Roofline & Drainwater Systems
In the course of any EWI or rendering project, we are often asked to replace or extend existing downpipes, guttering, fascia boards, soffits, window and door cills and other exterior features.
We are also able to undertake other types of exterior cladding work. For domestic properties, customers sometimes request brick, stone or slate features to small areas of the outside of their property. In commercial projects, it is fairly common that some elements of the outside of a building will be clad using aluminum sheeting to give a contemporary look.
During any quotation and design meeting, our Project Manager can discuss a variety of different exterior finishes and fixtures with you. If you are looking for a certain type of finish, effect or design, then please contact us to discuss your ideas.
Internal Insulation & Plastering
We are also able to undertake all types of internal plastering and rendering contract. Furthermore, it may not be possible to insulate the exterior of a building either (e.g., it is listed, or there are constraints on its appearance). In these cases, we are able to install high-performance insulation to the inside walls of the property and then apply a plaster finish before decoration.
We have also applied render finishes internally in certain cases - for example, in high-traffic areas where a robust and protective surface needs to be achieved.
If you have a project in mind that involves any of the above, we would be very happy to provide you with a detailed written quotation. You can make contact with us here or fill out this form to request this. A member of our team will be in touch with you within 24 hours.
